|
Matthew Levendusky joined the department as an assistant professor of political
science in the summer of 2007. He was previously (2006-2007) the Postdoctoral
Research Associate at the Center for the Study of American Politics at Yale
University. He obtained his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2006, and his BA
(with highest honors) from The Pennsylvania State University in 2001.
His research interests lie at the intersection of political behavior and
political institutions and focus on understanding how institutions
influence the political behavior of ordinary citizens. This broad question
is taken up in studies of polarization, voter cue-taking, and a variety of other
substantive questions. He is also interested in applied political methodology,
particularly issues of measurement.
His first book, The Partisan Sort, will be published by the University of
Chicago Press in fall 2009. His other work has appeared in the
Journal of Politics, Political Analysis, and other outlets in political science.
His teaching includes courses on public opinion and political behavior,
voting and elections, Congress, and political methodology.
More information can be found on his personal website .
