Gregory Koutnik is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Government and Environmental Studies at Hamilton College. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania with a focus on political theory and American politics. His dissertation research provides an original approach to environmental political theory focused on experiences of ecological belonging that can serve as a foundation for a more popular democratic environmental movement in defense of human homes and natural habitats. More broadly, his research explores the intersection of environmental political theory, American political thought, and theories of property law and political economy. His published work has appeared in American Political Thought and New Political Science, and his teaching expertise ranges from the history of political thought and American political thought to environmental politics and constitutional law.
