Kim Cárdenas is a doctoral student in American and Comparative Politics at the University of Pennsylvania. She has been recognized as a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow, Fontaine Fellow, American Political Science Association Minority Fellow, and Ronald E. McNair Scholar. Kim is interested in the political incorporation of sexual minorities among pan-ethnic communities. In particular, she investigates the ways in which race, gender, sexuality, and immigration inform Latinx political engagement and public opinion, and seeks to contribute to how political scientists theorize about intersectionality and its impact on mass political behavior. Kim's past work has examined the social and political incorporation of Latin American students. She received her BA in Government with minors in Latinx and Latin American Studies from Cornell University in 2017.
