Ph.D. Student in Political Science

Saffron Morter-Laing is a Ph.D. student in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Her main interests are environmental justice and policy, Chinese philosophy, and effective cross-cultural communication in relation to climate policy.

Her research looks into the terms used in environmental policy and the assumptions of cultural hegemony within those terms. She hopes to examine how environmental imaginaries differ across cultures, and how this knowledge might be best included in the development of multinational environmental policy.

Before starting her doctoral studies, she obtained an MSc in Political Theory from The London School of Economics and Political Science. She also completed a BSc there in Politics and Philosophy.
