David Macauley, Penn State University, Brandywine: "The Values of Walking: Ambulation as Political, Aesthetic, and Environmental Practice." 

 

David Macauley is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Environmental Studies at Penn State University, Brandywine. He has published articles on environmental philosophy, aesthetics, political theory, philosophy of technology, ancient Greek philosophy and Continental thought. Macauley is the author of Elemental Philosophy: Earth, Air, Fire and Water as Environmental Ideas (State University of New York Press, 2010) and is presently completing a book entitled Walking the Earth: Philosophical and Environmental Foot Notes (Indiana UniversityPress). His workshop presentation will build off his previously published paper, "Walking the Urban Environment: Pedestrian Practices and Peripatetic Politics."
